Renault India has released an official statement to address concerns about the use of E20 fuel in its vehicles. The company confirmed that its cars, including the 2022 model Triber, are safe to use with E20 fuel. This clarification addresses questions about whether E20 fuel can be safely used in vehicles certified for E10. Renault referred to a study conducted jointly by the Indian Oil Corporation and the Automotive Research Association of India. The study investigated the durability of vehicles using various fuel mixtures, especially focusing on the impact of E20 fuel on E10-certified vehicles. The study’s preliminary findings were shared with all vehicle manufacturers by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The study indicated that there were no negative consequences observed on current vehicles using E20 fuel. Renault stated that based on the study, there are no major technical risks associated with using E20 fuel in its vehicles. The company confirmed that its models, previously certified under E10 standards, can operate without problems on E20 fuel. This is important because the Indian government is aiming to provide E20 ethanol-blended petrol across the country by 2025. Renault’s statement offers reassurance to customers and supports the government’s initiative for green fuel adoption.
