Restaurants are a common business venture for celebrities, often representing a blend of culinary passion and income generation. However, these establishments can face closure. Bastian Bandra, Shilpa Shetty’s Mumbai restaurant, is shutting down this week. Co-owned with restaurateur Ranjit Bindra, it’s part of the Bastian Hospitality group and has been a prominent fixture in the city’s dining scene. Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, are involved in a controversy involving allegations of defrauding over Rs 60 crore in a loan and investment deal between 2015 and 2023. Mumbai businessman Deepak Kothari filed a fraud case, claiming misuse of funds for personal expenses. The couple’s legal counsel has refuted these claims, stating they are baseless, and the matter is civil in nature, having been addressed by the NCLT Mumbai. Shilpa Shetty shared an emotional announcement on social media, highlighting a special farewell event to mark the end of Bastian Bandra’s run and celebrate its contributions to Mumbai’s nightlife.
