Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah has announced his support for an interim government tasked with organizing new elections in Nepal. He has endorsed Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki to lead the electoral government, acknowledging her wisdom and ability to unite. Shah also urged the Gen Z population and all Nepalis to remain calm and patient, emphasizing the country is at a historic turning point and moving towards a brighter future. He highlighted that the country is currently under the governance of an interim government, which will facilitate fresh elections. Shah also encouraged those aspiring to leadership to wait for the elections, stressing the importance of their long-term passion, ideas, and honesty. He advocated for the formation of an interim government and immediate dissolution of Parliament, to protect the historic revolution by Gen Z.

Violent protests have entered their third day in Nepal, with the death toll reaching 30 and hundreds injured. These protests, led by Gen Z, began on August 8, with demands to lift the ban on social media and address government corruption. Following the youth-led demonstrations, the private residence of outgoing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Balkot, Bhaktapur, was vandalized and set on fire. Oli subsequently resigned and reportedly fled the country.
