The film ‘Nayak: The Real Hero’ was initially offered to Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan. The lead role went to Anil Kapoor, who also shared this information, stating that he felt he was meant to portray this character. The movie, a political drama, was directed by S. Shankar, and released in 2001. It was a remake of the Tamil film ‘Mudhalvan’. Shah Rukh Khan supported the film by attending its audio launch. Director S. Shankar revealed that discussions with Aamir Khan didn’t progress and Shah Rukh Khan was working on his other film, which prevented them from taking the role in ‘Nayak’.
