CP Radhakrishnan was inaugurated as the 15th Vice President of India on Friday, taking the oath in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath, with Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and former Vice Presidents in attendance. Radhakrishnan, who is 67, secured a victory in the recent vice presidential election. The BJP, under JP Nadda, had nominated Radhakrishnan as the NDA candidate. Prime Minister Modi extended congratulations to Radhakrishnan, highlighting his past contributions to community service. Radhakrishnan expressed thanks for the opportunity to serve. Prior to this role, Radhakrishnan was the Governor of Maharashtra and held additional charges as Governor of Jharkhand and Telangana. He also served as the BJP’s Tamil Nadu state president. His association with the RSS and Jan Sangh dates back to his youth. He was previously elected to the Lok Sabha from Coimbatore.
