Addressing the media, Lieutenant General Manoj Katiyar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command, stated that India is prepared to respond with greater force if Pakistan or Pakistan-backed terrorists initiate another attack. He emphasized the ongoing nature of ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a strategic effort to counter any potential Pakistani aggression. The statements were made at the diamond jubilee celebrations commemorating the 1965 India-Pakistan war victory. Lieutenant General Katiyar acknowledged the peaceful situation on the ground post the May 10 ceasefire. He expressed his anticipation that Pakistan would refrain from future hostile actions. He emphasized that a strong retaliation would be inevitable in the event of another attack. He highlighted that the objectives behind the Pahalgam terrorist attack were to destabilize Jammu and Kashmir and to promote communal division within India. He also added that the neighboring country would continue its efforts to harm India’s secular foundations.
