The remarks made by spiritual guru Rambhadracharya, who referred to Western Uttar Pradesh as a ‘mini Pakistan’ during a discourse in Meerut, have stirred up significant controversy. Dr. ST Hasan, a former Samajwadi Party MP, has strongly criticized the statement, viewing it as a disparagement to the Muslim community and the entire population of Western Uttar Pradesh. Hasan highlighted the close-knit relationship and mutual support between Hindus and Muslims in the area and asserted that such comments undermine social cohesion. He questioned the rationale behind equating a region with a Muslim presence to a ‘mini Pakistan,’ calling the idea both misguided and offensive. The former MP further alleged that such individuals exploit religious sentiments to benefit specific political parties. He questioned if such statements contribute to the image of a religious figure seeking to unite society. He reminded that everyone is aware of the truth of Pakistan, yet it is wrong to consider all the Muslims of Western UP as terrorists. He appealed that those who make such statements should think before speaking.
