A recent Ukrainian drone attack on a major Russian oil refinery caused a large fire. Both Russian and Ukrainian officials confirmed the strike on the Kirishi refinery in the Leningrad region. This refinery is operated by Surgutneftegas and produces a significant amount of crude oil each year. The use of drones has become a defining aspect of this conflict. This demonstrates the importance of drones as a weapon for both sides in the conflict. In a recent development, several Russian drones entered Polish airspace, triggering a response from NATO with fighter jets. The Ukrainian General Staff reported explosions and fire at the refinery, publishing a photo of the flames and smoke. Three drones were shot down in the Kirishi area, according to the regional governor, resulting in a fire. Russia is facing gasoline shortages in several areas due to rising demand and the impact of Ukrainian drone strikes. In response to the shortages, Russia has placed a ban on gasoline exports, with full restrictions in place until September 30 and partial restrictions affecting traders and intermediaries until October 31.
