This extension provides the necessary time to finalize the deal announced on Monday, following discussions between US and Chinese government representatives. Trump issued his fourth executive order on Tuesday, postponing the deadline for TikTok to either sell its assets to an American company or be banned, thereby bypassing established federal law. The initial deadline was January 19th.
