The call was the first between the two leaders since June 17. Modi stated his commitment to furthering the India-US Comprehensive and Global Partnership and indicated support for Trump’s initiatives toward a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.
Trump also commented on the call via Truth Social, wishing PM Modi a happy birthday and acknowledging his leadership. Trump also noted Modi’s support in ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. Furthermore, both countries expressed their readiness to progress on a long-stalled trade deal. Trump expressed his pleasure with the ongoing trade discussions, calling PM Modi a “very good friend,” and expecting a positive outcome for both nations. Modi reiterated the close ties between India and the US, expressing confidence that trade talks would help to realize the full potential of the India-US partnership.
