Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has penned a letter to Wipro’s Azim Premji, seeking his assistance in alleviating the persistent traffic congestion in Bengaluru. The primary focus is the Outer Ring Road (ORR), specifically the problematic Iblur junction. The proposal suggests utilizing the Wipro campus as a transit route for a limited number of vehicles. The letter, issued on September 19, outlines how heavy traffic during peak hours is harming people’s movement, impacting work productivity, and affecting the quality of life within the city. The plan involves allowing some vehicles to pass through the Wipro campus, subject to mutual consent and the implementation of appropriate safety measures. Experts in traffic and urban mobility have indicated that this measure could lead to a reduction in traffic congestion by as much as 30% during office hours on the ORR. Siddaramaiah has called for Wipro to work with government representatives to develop a plan that works for both parties, stressing the importance of Wipro’s contribution in the effort to enhance the city of Bengaluru.
