Government Initiates Resettlement Plan for Palamu Villages: Financial Aid and Land Allocation

In Palamu, Jharkhand, the government is relocating 780 families from seven villages. As part of this plan, each family will receive 15 lakh rupees and one acre of land to help them resettle. This initiative is linked to the Shahid Neelambar-Pitambar North Koel Reservoir Project (Mandal Dam). The project will impact villages like Khaira, Bhajna, Sanaiya, Kutku, Khura, Chemo, and Meral in Garhwa and Latehar districts. The government aims to ensure the relocated families have access to essential facilities in their new settlements. Alongside the resettlement plan, the government is also considering declaring Saranda forest area as a wildlife sanctuary, with a committee formed to study the area’s social and economic aspects. The Supreme Court has directed the Jharkhand government to declare Saranda a sanctuary by October 8. Furthermore, the cabinet approved the establishment of NDPS police stations in five districts to fight drug-related offenses.
