India continued its unbeaten performance in the Asia Cup, defeating Sri Lanka in a Super Over. Both teams scored 202 runs in 20 overs. India needed 3 runs in the Super Over, a target successfully reached by Suryakumar Yadav. Key performances included Abhishek Sharma’s 61 runs, Tilak Verma’s 49 not out, and 107 runs by Nissanka for Sri Lanka. This was the first time in the tournament that the Indian team crossed the 200-run mark. The final match between India and Pakistan is scheduled for September 28. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared at the UNGA that Palestine would not be granted statehood, describing such a move as a threat. He drew a comparison between the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023, and the 9/11 attacks in the United States. His speech was met with many delegates leaving the assembly hall. He is set to meet with US President Donald Trump on Monday. In a humorous turn, Shoaib Akhtar mistakenly mentioned Abhishek Bachchan instead of cricketer Abhishek Sharma during discussions about the Asia Cup final, to which Abhishek Bachchan responded respectfully on social media. In other news, a violent clash occurred in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh after Friday prayers. A demonstration, organized by Maulana Tauqeer Raza, using the slogan “I Love Mohammad,” turned into a riot. Protesters engaged in stone-pelting and firing at the police, resulting in injuries to 10 police officers. The police used a baton charge to restore order. Cases have been registered in three police stations, and investigations are underway. The Tata Group is preparing a special offering for investors for Diwali, with the Tata Capital IPO launching on October 6, 2025, and closing on October 8. The IPO is valued at 16,400 crore rupees, resulting in an estimated company valuation of more than 1.46 lakh crore rupees. The Indian Air Force also bid farewell to the MiG-21 fighter aircraft in Chandigarh, which has protected India’s airspace for over 60 years. It has been replaced by more modern aircraft such as Tejas and Rafale. State-level news includes: The UP STF killed NEET student Deepak Gupta’s murderer, Zubair Qureshi, in an encounter.
