In a move to support women’s empowerment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana in Bihar. Through video conferencing, he transferred Rs 10,000 to each of the 75 lakh women beneficiaries. The total disbursement amounted to Rs 7,500 crore. The program is a key initiative by the Bihar government to encourage self-employment and enhance women’s livelihoods. The scheme aims to offer financial assistance, enabling women to establish or pursue employment and livelihood options. Each woman will receive an initial grant of Rs. 10,000, with further potential for financial aid up to Rs. 2 lakh. These funds are intended for diverse activities, including agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, and small businesses. The scheme incorporates community support, with Self Help Groups providing training and the development of Gramin Haat-Bazaars to help in selling their goods. The launch of the scheme will involve extensive statewide programs.
