In an effort to bolster women’s empowerment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana in Bihar. The program saw the direct transfer of Rs 10,000 to 75 lakh women, totaling Rs 7,500 crore. The scheme, a state-led initiative, is designed to encourage self-employment and improve livelihoods for women. The scheme provides financial support to one woman from each family, enabling her to undertake employment or livelihood activities. Beneficiaries have the flexibility to use the funds for diverse activities, including agriculture and small-scale enterprises. Beyond financial aid, the scheme emphasizes community engagement, with Self Help Groups offering training and support. Plans include the development of Gramin Haat-Bazaars to assist in the sale of goods. The launch event encompassed a statewide program that involved over 1 crore women across various administrative levels in the state.
