Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, a top advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has recommended that Iran join the defense pact between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Safavi views the pact as a positive development and has suggested that Iran, Iraq, and other nations should also become members. He believes that Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq should work together to create a collective regional power and strengthen security cooperation. The Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement was formalized during Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s state visit to Riyadh. This agreement underscores the commitment of both nations to enhance security, with any attack on one considered an attack on the other.
