Saeed Ajmal, a former member of the Pakistani cricket team, has made a surprising claim regarding the financial rewards promised to the team after their 2009 T20 World Cup victory. Ajmal stated that the checks provided by the then-Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani, bounced. The checks, intended as a reward for the players, were for 25 lakh rupees each. The team eventually received their financial compensation from the ICC. This disclosure is particularly relevant given the current scrutiny of the Pakistani team’s performance in the Asia Cup, where they have faced defeats against India. The 2009 T20 World Cup final saw Pakistan triumph over Sri Lanka, securing their victory.
