An investigation into the Karur stampede at actor Vijay’s rally is underway, with the police focusing on the ambulance response and communications. Ambulance drivers who were on duty during the September 27th event were questioned. The stampede resulted in 41 fatalities and 60 injuries. The Karur Town Police are gathering detailed information from the drivers, including who contacted them, the number of calls to hospitals, and the number of ambulances deployed. The police are looking to understand the communication and coordination during the emergency. Before the stampede, five ambulances were arranged by TVK and were stationed near police quarters. Following the tragic event, local police used a microphone to notify the authorities, who then called for ambulances from Amaravati Hospital. The National SC/ST Commission visited the site and the Madras High Court has ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Asra Garg to investigate the stampede. The court has reportedly criticized the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) officials regarding the incident.
