A significant security lapse was averted in Roorkee Cantonment with the apprehension of a man falsely claiming to be an Indian Army soldier. The individual, identified as Surendra Kumar, a resident of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan, was intercepted by a joint team comprising Army intelligence, local police, and other intelligence operatives. His suspicious conduct near the MES gate triggered the alert. Kumar was found in possession of an Army uniform, a forged Army ID card, a fake enlistment document, a nameplate, and a significant number of bank debit cards. Authorities have confirmed his non-military status and are actively investigating his intentions and any potential affiliations. This case follows a recent incident in Sambhajinagar, where a woman was arrested for posing as a retired Army officer, wearing uniforms, and attending various functions, underscoring the seriousness of military impersonation.
