Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially opened the impressive new legislative assembly complex in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh, heralding what he termed a ‘golden age’ for the state’s development journey. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister acknowledged the crucial role played by leaders from Chhattisgarh in the drafting of the Constitution under the tutelage of Dr. BR Ambedkar. PM Modi spoke of a profound and ‘special connection’ with the state, describing the people and the land as a ‘great blessing’ that has shaped his life. He underscored India’s democratic legacy as the ‘mother of democracy’ and looked forward to the ‘Amrit Varsh’ in 2025. Recounting his experience, Modi mentioned being a witness to Chhattisgarh’s entire transformation, from the resolve for its creation to its present-day advancements. In a significant tribute, he honored former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose vision led to the state’s establishment two and a half decades ago. The inauguration of Vajpayee’s statue alongside the new assembly, Modi declared, signifies the realization of his dreams for Chhattisgarh. He stressed that the state’s formation was a strategic move by Vajpayee to create developmental opportunities and recognize Chhattisgarh’s soul. The expansive 51-acre, Rs 324 crore Vidhan Sabha complex is intended to embody the state’s cultural essence and its progressive outlook.
