Sunday saw a significant traffic incident on the Torpa main road in Khunti, near Gupta Hardware, where a trailer truck’s runaway roll caused alarm. The trailer, parked by the roadside near Mahadev Fruit shop, reportedly started rolling backward while its driver was making a fruit purchase. The vehicle continued to roll for about 200 meters before colliding with a tempo parked further down the road. The collision was severe, resulting in the complete destruction of the tempo. The impact also extended to an adjacent electricity transformer, causing it damage. Fortunately, the incident concluded without any injuries, averting a potential disaster. Local residents acted swiftly, managing the immediate aftermath and informing the power utility. Police have secured the accident site and are investigating the circumstances. Reports from those present indicate a crowded road at the time, underscoring the fortunate lack of casualties. The Torpa police have taken possession of the trailer truck.
