In a workshop organized by Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), Rural Development Department, Government of Jharkhand, CEO-JSLPS Mr. Ananya Mittal said that currently, the benefits of various rural development schemes of the government are being extended to more than 33 lakh women of Sakhi Mandals. The main objective of this workshop is to establish new dimensions of livelihood for rural women by making better use of available resources. It is necessary that we ensure the reuse of assets available in all districts so that the community can get maximum benefit. The role of DDCs and DPMs will be very important in this direction. This initiative is a big step not only towards women’s empowerment but also towards rural economic development. This workshop was successfully organized in Ranchi on the theme “Building Synergy: Orientation of DDCs & Asset Repurposing for Community Growth” through the joint efforts of JSLPS and Grant Thornton Bharat LLP.

Mr. Chirag Jain, Partner at Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, informed that through asset repurposing, vacant government buildings are being used for women-led businesses, providing new livelihood opportunities to local communities. He said that this model will prove to be instrumental in giving a new direction to the rural economy in states like Jharkhand.

During the workshop, detailed presentations were given on various divisions of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) and JSLPS – SIMB, Social Development, Financial Inclusion, Agriculture and Non-Agriculture Livelihoods, Lakhpati Didi Initiative, Deen Dayal Upadhyay-Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, PVTG & Ultra Poor. Additionally, successful examples of empowering women entrepreneurs under schemes like the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, PMFME, and Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) were also shared.

Discussions were also held with the Deputy Development Commissioners present at the event regarding the necessary cooperation and coordination in this direction. Women who became self-reliant by starting livelihoods with Sakhi Mandals shared their experiences and said that after getting vacant government assets, they received help in expanding their businesses and creating employment.

Deputy Development Commissioners from all districts, District Program Managers, and women from Sakhi Mandals participated in this workshop.
