Jhumritilaiya’s PVSSE DAV Public School recently conducted a significant two-day capacity-building workshop focused on ‘Strengthening Evaluation and Assessment Methodologies.’ Held on November 8-9, 2025, under the auspices of the Central Board of Secondary Education, Patna region, the workshop’s primary goal was to enhance teachers’ proficiency in employing modern, transparent, and competency-focused assessment strategies. This effort directly supports the alignment of pedagogical practices with the National Education Policy 2020, aiming for a more effective and meaningful learning experience. The program was officially inaugurated by lighting a ceremonial lamp, led by the school’s Principal and Venue Director, Krishan Kumar Singh. The event was enriched by the presence of distinguished resource persons: Chandan Kumar Dubey (Sainik School), Mukesh Kumar Prasad (Jharkhand Public School), and experienced teachers Mousumi Mallik and Kumar Satish Singh. A student performance of a welcome song created a welcoming and inspiring environment. Principal Krishan Kumar Singh delivered an address highlighting the evolution of assessment systems, the methods for ensuring fair evaluation, and the critical role educators play. The workshop saw participation from 58 teachers, drawn from DAV institutions and also including four educators from Jharkhand Public School. The training covered essential topics such as recent official circulars, quality standards for question papers, evaluation matrices, activity-driven learning, and the updated approach to in-class assessments. Participants actively engaged in group discussions, quizzes, and practical exercises to thoroughly analyze the recent transformations in assessment procedures. The expert speakers emphasized the critical need for student-centric assessments that cultivate practical skills and real-world applicability. The event concluded with a moment of peace. Kumar Satish Singh expressed gratitude to the CBSE, the resource persons, the school management, the participating teachers, and the staff for their contributions. Chandni Dubey skillfully anchored the proceedings. Principal Krishan Kumar Singh concluded by stating that this workshop is a pivotal initiative for making teaching and evaluation more comprehensive, skill-oriented, and learner-focused, in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020.
