A major crackdown on crime in Hazaribagh has led to the arrest of six individuals accused of demanding ten lakh rupees from a rural doctor. The Barkatha Police Station successfully apprehended the suspects: Naved Khan alias Golu Khan, Salman Ansari, Abul Ansari, Afsar Ansari, Alok Kumar, and Satyam Kumar. Law enforcement officials confiscated a country-made pistol, eight live rounds of ammunition, a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle (JH 02 AL-4873), and six mobile phones. The investigation was spurred by a complaint lodged by Dr. Ghulam Rabbani, who reported receiving extortionate demands via phone on the night of October 30th. The perpetrators escalated their intimidation by firing at the doctor’s parked vehicle on November 6th. Following the registration of a case at Barkatha Police Station, authorities, under the direction of Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan and supervised by the Deputy Superintendent of Police of Barhi, formed a special team. This joint operation, involving Barkatha and Gorhar Police Stations, conducted extensive searches and surveillance, culminating in the arrest of the entire group. The suspects have confessed to their involvement. It has also come to light that the same mobile number may have been used in similar blackmail and extortion schemes within the Tatijharia Police Station’s jurisdiction.
