In a decisive operation, Chhattisgarh security forces have eliminated six Naxalites in an encounter in the Bijapur district. The intense firefight took place in the Indravati National Park area, a region often utilized by Maoist cadres. The operation was initiated after security agencies received credible information about the presence of senior Naxalite leaders. A joint team of the DRG (Bijapur and Dantewada) and STF engaged the militants in a sustained exchange of fire that lasted for several hours. The aftermath of the encounter saw the recovery of six Naxalite bodies, along with their weaponry, which included an INSAS rifle, sten guns, a .303 rifle, and explosive materials. To prevent the escape of any remaining insurgents, a broader cordon was established involving additional units from the Bastar Fighters, CRPF, and CAF. The successful neutralization of these Naxalites is viewed as a critical achievement in the ongoing efforts to dismantle Maoist networks. The state leadership praised the security personnel for their courage and reiterated the commitment to achieving a Naxal-free state. Simultaneously, a separate operation in Bijapur led to the apprehension of an injured Naxalite, who is now under medical care. This encounter adds to the significant number of Naxalite casualties in Chhattisgarh this year, totaling 259.
