Hazaribagh district authorities have reported the arrest of six men involved in an extortion scheme targeting a rural doctor. The Barkatha police, in a coordinated operation, detained Naved Khan alias Golu Khan, Salman Ansari, Abul Ansari, Afsar Ansari, Alok Kumar, and Satyam Kumar. The police recovered a locally manufactured firearm, eight live bullets, a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle (JH 02 AL-4873), and six mobile devices from the suspects. The case began on October 30th when Dr. Ghulam Rabbani received a distressing phone call demanding ten lakh rupees. The threat materialized on November 6th with an incident of shooting at the doctor’s parked vehicle. Following the registration of a case at Barkatha police station, a dedicated team was assembled under the direction of Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan. This team, working in conjunction with Gorhar police, executed raids that culminated in the capture of the accused and the recovery of the criminal tools. The apprehended individuals have confessed to the charges. Evidence also points to the same mobile number being used in a prior extortion incident within the Tatijharia police station limits.
