The investigation into the deadly Delhi car blast has taken a significant turn with the identification of a potential handler in Turkey. Dr. Umar Mohammad, confirmed by DNA testing to have been driving the vehicle that exploded near the Red Fort, was allegedly in contact with an individual known as ‘UKasa,’ believed to be based in Ankara. Investigators are examining ‘UKasa’ as a possible alias used to conceal the handler’s identity and are looking into whether Indian nationals visited Ankara in March 2022 for radicalization. Encrypted communications through the ‘Session App’ have been identified as a key method used by Dr. Umar and other terrorists to coordinate with their handler. The forensic confirmation of Dr. Umar’s identity, derived from DNA comparison with his mother and fragments from the burnt car, solidifies his role in the incident. The blast, which claimed 12 lives and injured over 20 people, has been officially termed a ‘terrorist incident’ by the government. The focus now is on a comprehensive investigation to trace financial trails, communication networks, and bring all individuals involved, including sponsors, to justice with utmost urgency.
