Vote counting for the 45-Ghatshila (Scheduled Tribe) Assembly by-election in East Singhbhum district continues, with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Somesh Chandra Soren maintaining a commanding lead. Following the conclusion of the sixth round, Soren has amassed 27,467 votes, placing him 6,217 votes ahead of his nearest competitor. The BJP candidate, Babulal Soren, is currently in the second position with 21,250 votes. The Jharkhand Democratic Revolutionary Front’s Ramdas Murmu is significantly behind, having secured 6,061 votes. Independent candidates have registered low vote totals, including Dr. Shrilal Kisku (431), Manas Ram Hansda (394), Vikas Hembram (264), and Manoj Kumar Singh (137). Panchanan Soren of the Bharat Adivasi Party has received 239 votes, and Parvati Hansda of the People’s Party of India (Democratic) has obtained 106 votes. Many other independent candidates have polled fewer than 100 votes. A total of 827 voters opted for NOTA.
