Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have decided to release their key overseas batsman, Devon Conway, prior to the IPL 2026 player retention deadline. Conway himself confirmed the news, extending his thanks to the dedicated CSK supporters for their backing over the past three years. His IPL career with CSK commenced in 2022, where he immediately made an impression with 252 runs. Conway’s 2023 season was exceptional, registering 672 runs and finishing as the third-highest scorer. Following a season-long absence in IPL 2024, he was retained by CSK for ₹6.25 crore during the mega auction. However, his performance in the latest edition was modest, managing only 156 runs in six games. This release marks the end of Conway’s tenure with CSK, and he is now set to explore opportunities with other teams in the IPL. The franchise is reportedly planning a squad overhaul, with several other player releases anticipated as they aim for a strong resurgence in IPL 2026.
