The film fraternity is in mourning following the demise of veteran actress Kamini Kaushal at the age of 98. Superstar Amitabh Bachchan has shared his poignant reflections on the legendary artist’s life and career. Writing on his blog, Bachchan spoke of Kaushal as a ‘dear family friend’ and a cherished personality whose presence enriched the industry for decades. He elaborated on the deep historical ties between their families, originating from the pre-partition era in Punjab, and mentioned the close friendship between Kaushal’s sister and his mother. Describing her as a ‘most pleasant, warm, affectionate and talented artist,’ Bachchan conveyed that her passing signifies the end of a memorable chapter. He extended his heartfelt sympathies to her family, acknowledging the collective sorrow within the industry and among friends as luminaries depart. Kamini Kaushal was a prominent star during the golden age of Indian cinema, working with iconic actors like Dev Anand and Dharmendra. Her debut film, ‘Neecha Nagar,’ holds a prestigious place in film history as the winner of the Grand Prix at the inaugural Cannes Film Festival. Throughout her extensive career, spanning over 70 years and more than 70 films, she left an unforgettable legacy. Her final film appearance was in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ in 2022. The actress was honored with final rites performed by her family in Mumbai.
