A devastating road accident in Saudi Arabia has led to the suspected deaths of over 40 Indian pilgrims. The tragic incident, involving a bus travelling from Mecca to Medina, occurred when the vehicle collided with a diesel tanker and caught fire. Many of the victims are believed to be residents of Hyderabad, causing immense grief in the city. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his profound sadness and assured that Indian diplomatic missions are working diligently to provide assistance. “Our Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddah are providing all possible assistance,” he stated. Local leaders, including Asaduddin Owaisi and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, are actively engaged in relief efforts. Owaisi confirmed the presence of 42 pilgrims from Hyderabad travel agencies on the ill-fated bus and has relayed passenger information to the Indian Embassy. Chief Minister Reddy has mandated officials to coordinate closely with the Indian embassy to support the affected families. The Indian Consulate General in Jeddah has established a crisis response mechanism, including a helpline, to aid those impacted by this terrible event.
