A pregnant woman of Indian heritage, Samanvitha Dhareshwar, and her unborn child have tragically lost their lives following a severe car crash in Sydney’s Hornsby area. The 33-year-old was out for a walk with her husband and young son on Friday when the accident occurred. She was eight months pregnant at the time. According to initial police reports, the family was crossing a footpath when a Kia Carnival slowed, apparently to let them pass. At that precise moment, a BMW sedan, reportedly driven by 19-year-old Aaron Papazoglu, struck the Kia from behind. The impact from the collision caused the Kia to move forward, hitting Ms. Dhareshwar with devastating force. Emergency responders provided immediate medical attention to Ms. Dhareshwar before she was transported to Westmead Hospital. Tragically, despite the best medical care, both the mother and her baby did not survive. Ms. Dhareshwar was an IT systems analyst and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her second child. The teenager accused of causing the crash has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including dangerous driving causing death and loss of a foetus. The investigation into this deeply unfortunate event continues.
