Raipur November 19, 2025/ Taking a big step towards further strengthening transparency, punctuality, and administrative efficiency, the Chhattisgarh government has announced the implementation of the Aadhaar-based Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) in all departments functioning in Mahanadi Bhavan and Indravati Bhavan.
Today, in a meeting of senior officials, the new system was demonstrated live in the presence of Chief Secretary Mr. Vikas Sheel, where a demo of the facial authentication-based attendance system and wall-mounted Aadhaar-enabled biometric devices was presented. The trial of this system will start from tomorrow, and attendance through AEBAS will be mandatory in the ministry from December 01, 2025.
Chief Secretary Mr. Vikas Sheel has directed that this system should also be implemented in all Directorates/Head of Department offices from January 01, 2026. He also clarified that punctuality is the top priority of the administration, and all officers and employees must strictly adhere to it.
Methods for Employees to Mark Attendance
As per the new protocol, every employee will have to mark attendance twice daily—”IN” at the time of entry and “OUT” at the time of departure. Two options have been provided for this:
1. Facial Authentication via Mobile App
Employees will be able to mark IN/OUT attendance through Aadhaar-based facial verification on their smartphones. This system has been designed keeping in mind both convenience and biometric security.
2. Aadhaar-Enabled Biometric Devices Installed at Entrances
Thumb-based Aadhaar-enabled biometric devices have been installed on the walls at the main entrances of the ministry buildings, through which employees can mark their attendance.
Both systems will operate in parallel, and employees can use either option as per their convenience.
The General Administration Department (GAD) has installed Aadhaar-enabled biometric devices at all designated entrances and has also completed the training of nodal officers to ensure systematic and seamless implementation. All employees have been instructed to ensure that their Aadhaar and service-related details are correctly updated in the attendance portal. Any negligence, laxity, or non-compliance with the new attendance system will be taken seriously.
The introduction of the Aadhaar-based Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) further strengthens the state government’s commitment to improving administrative accountability, efficiency, and quality of service delivery. This system will not only simplify departmental operations but will also establish a culture of discipline and transparency in the administrative machinery.
