    Chhattisgarh is among the leading states in the country in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana – Rural Development Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan

    Central government approves 774 road works (2,426.875 km) for the state

    Approval of 774 new roads for Chhattisgarh under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana will give new momentum to our rural development campaign – Chief Minister Shri Sai

    Raipur, November 19, 2025/ Chhattisgarh has once again established its identity among the leading states in the country by performing excellently in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). So far, a total of 9,722 roads (48,594 km) and 669 bridges have been approved for Chhattisgarh in various phases of the scheme. Out of these, 8,753 roads (43,380 km) and 470 bridges have been successfully completed.

    The Union Rural Development Minister informed Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai through a letter that further strengthening rural road connectivity, 774 new roads (total length 2,426.875 km) have been approved for Chhattisgarh under PMGSY-IV. This is the first time that the target of providing ‘all-weather road connectivity’ to eligible unconnected habitations has been set in this phase. This approval has opened the way to provide all-weather road facilities to remote and deprived habitations of Chhattisgarh.

    Informing about the decision of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, it has been stated that all-weather road connectivity will provide extensive facilities in terms of market, health services, education, nutrition, disaster management, and daily commuting to these habitations. This will ensure acceleration in the social-economic development of the region, increase in rural livelihoods, and easy access to public welfare services.

    Union Rural Development Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan praised Chhattisgarh’s achievements and said that Chhattisgarh has consistently performed leadingly in the excellent implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. He congratulated the people of Chhattisgarh, the PMGSY team, engineers, and field staff for this achievement. He said that the government’s efforts to deliver the benefits of this scheme to the targeted beneficiaries will continue, and the pace of rural development in Chhattisgarh will accelerate.
