Raipur November 20, 2025/President Smt. Droupadi Murmu graced the ‘Tribal Pride Day’ ceremony organized by the Chhattisgarh government in Ambikapur, Surguja, Chhattisgarh today.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that the contribution of tribal communities is a glorious chapter in India’s history, which is the mother of democracy. Examples of this can be seen in ancient republics as well as in many tribal traditions, such as the ‘Muria Darbar’ in Bastar – which is a parliament of primitive people.

The President said that the roots of tribal heritage are deep in various parts of the country, including Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand. She expressed happiness that this year the Chhattisgarh government celebrated the Tribal Pride Fortnight on a large scale from November 1 to November 15.

The President highlighted that in the last decade, schemes have been developed and implemented at the national level for the development and welfare of tribal communities. Last year, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the ‘Dharti Aba Tribal Village Upliftment Campaign’ was launched. This campaign will benefit more than 5 crore tribal brothers and sisters across the country. In the year 2023, the Prime Minister Tribal Backward Classes Justice Mahabhiyan (PM-JANMAN Abhiyan) was launched for the social and economic development of 75 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs). All these schemes are proof of the priority the government gives to tribal communities.

The President said that to give new impetus to the development efforts of tribal communities, the Government of India has launched the ‘Adi Karmyogi Abhiyan’ during the year of the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. She mentioned that a network of about 20 lakh volunteers is being created across the country under this campaign. She expressed confidence that these volunteers will ensure the development of tribal communities by working at the grassroots level.

The President expressed happiness to learn that people across the country, including Chhattisgarh, are leaving the path of left-wing extremism and joining the mainstream of development. She said that with the thoughtful and coordinated efforts of the central and state governments, the elimination of left-wing extremism will be possible in the near future. She expressed happiness that more than 1,65,000 participants participated in the recently organized ‘Bastar Olympics’. She expressed confidence that by following the ideals of tribal great men, the people of Chhattisgarh will make an invaluable contribution to building a strong, self-reliant, and developed India.
