The Jharkhand state government is being accused of inventing new criminal acts to conceal its inability to manage the escalating crime situation and shield illicit operations. Babulal Marandi, the BJP State President and Leader of the Opposition, asserted that the current administration and its supporting systems have developed a modus operandi of manufacturing fabricated crimes to mask underlying criminal activities. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) interventions in Dhanbad’s powerful coal mafia have unveiled shocking details. The most alarming development, according to Marandi, involves certain senior police officials allegedly benefiting from the coal trade’s illicit profits. These officials are reportedly directing mafia operatives to eliminate key individuals permanently. This alleged conspiracy is designed to obstruct the ED’s investigation by silencing witnesses and preventing the disclosure of incriminating facts. Marandi reminded the public of historical instances where evidence was ‘encountered’ to cover up criminal conspiracies. He referenced a former DGP who faced severe accusations, including from within the ruling party, for allegedly arranging contract killings and exhibiting extreme levels of corruption. He strongly advised the ED to maintain a high degree of alertness, observing that in this state, those who bury the truth gain prominence. He concluded that when political power, law enforcement agencies, and criminal syndicates become intertwined, the concept of justice becomes virtually non-existent.
