Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Babulal Marandi has publicly accused the Jharkhand government of manufacturing new crimes to deliberately hide ongoing criminal activities. As the state president and leader of the opposition, Marandi expressed concern over a growing trend where the government and its systems allegedly concoct offenses to divert attention. The recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) operations within Dhanbad’s extensive coal network have uncovered shocking details. A significant allegation is that certain senior police officers, allegedly profiting from the illegal coal trade, have issued ‘termination orders’ for their key enforcers within the coal mafia. This sinister plan is purportedly aimed at ensuring that critical witnesses cannot testify and that the truth remains buried.

Evidence suggests that individuals cooperating with the ED’s investigation are now facing assassination threats to prevent the revelation of facts. Marandi referenced past instances in Jharkhand where so-called ‘encounters’ were used to eliminate criminals, effectively destroying evidence. He brought up the case of a former DGP who was accused of taking contracts for killings and perpetuating unprecedented corruption, with allegations even coming from within the ruling coalition. Marandi cautioned the ED to be highly alert, stating that in Jharkhand, silence and obfuscation are often rewarded more than truth. He concluded that when the government, the system, and organized crime entities align, the subversion of justice becomes an almost unavoidable consequence.
