Babulal Marandi, a prominent opposition leader and BJP state chief in Jharkhand, has accused the state government of actively creating new crimes to obscure its failure to control existing ones. Marandi highlighted that the prevailing modus operandi involves fabricating offenses to cover up the true extent of criminal activity. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigations into the pervasive illegal coal empire in Dhanbad have uncovered shocking revelations. Significantly, allegations suggest that some influential police officers, reportedly benefiting from the illegal coal trade, have issued orders to ‘neutralize’ key informants and associates of those being questioned by the ED. The aim of this alleged plot is to prevent any truthful testimony from reaching the authorities. Marandi cautioned the ED to be highly alert, stating that the state prioritizes the suppression of truth over its revelation. He added that when the government, the system, and criminal elements operate in unison, the subversion of justice is merely a procedural matter. Marandi alluded to past controversies involving a former DGP accused of contract killings and extreme corruption.
