Mitchell Starc of Australia has claimed a significant record in Test cricket, now holding the title for the most wickets taken by a left-arm fast bowler. On the opening day of the second Ashes Test in Brisbane, Starc dismissed England’s Harry Brook to record his 415th Test wicket, thereby surpassing the previous record held by Pakistan’s Wasim Akram, who had 414. This impressive milestone was achieved in Starc’s 102nd Test, just two matches fewer than Akram’s 104 Tests. Since January 2015, Starc stands as one of only three bowlers to achieve over 350 Test wickets, a testament to his enduring quality alongside Nathan Lyon and Ravichandran Ashwin. His current standing places him 16th on the overall Test wicket charts, with opportunities to ascend further in the current series against England. Starc’s impact was felt immediately in the match, as he dismantled England’s top order early on.
