During his recent visit to India, President Vladimir Putin was hosted at a grand State Dinner in Rashtrapati Bhavan by President Droupadi Murmu. The event featured a special all-vegetarian menu, thoughtfully presented in a traditional Thali format to give the Russian delegation an authentic taste of India’s rich culinary heritage. The menu was designed to be a gastronomic exploration, showcasing a range of sophisticated dishes prepared with local ingredients. The culinary voyage began with starters from various regions, including Murungelai Chaaru (a South Indian Rasam), Gucchi Doon Chetin (Kashmiri walnut-stuffed morels), Kaale Chane Ke Shikaampuri (black gram patties), and Vegetable Jhol Momo (Himalayan dumplings). The main course featured popular North Indian vegetarian dishes such as Zafrani Paneer Roll, Paalak Methy Maataar Ka Saag, Tandoor Bharwaan Aloo, Achari Baingan, and Yellow Dal Tadka. These were served with fragrant Dry Fruit and Saffron Pulao and an assortment of Indian breads like Lachcha Parantha and Magaz Naan. The dessert course offered classic Indian sweets: Badam Ka Halwa and Kesar-Pista Kulfi, alongside a refreshing health drink made from pomegranate, orange, carrot, and ginger juices. The dinner was more than a meal; it was a cultural celebration, enhanced by a musical performance blending Indian and Russian melodies.
