Koderma’s sporting infrastructure received a significant upgrade with the grand opening of the Ahimsa Indoor Sports Academy at Jain Vidyalaya on Sunday. The inauguration ceremony was a testament to community support, drawing prominent figures from the Jain society, including Minister Narendra Jhanjhri, Co-Minister Raj Chhabra, School Convener Sunil Jain Chhabra, Piyush Jain Kashliwal, social benefactor Suresh Jhanjhri, Sushil Chhabra, Pradeep Chhabra, Suresh Pandya, Kiran Tholya, Mona Chhabra, and Jain Youth Committee President Rajiv Chhabra.
This impressive indoor stadium, a generous donation from the family of Chairman Kishore Ji Pandya completed in 2024, is poised to become a hub for athletic activity. Badminton has been chosen as the academy’s first sport, with play commencing immediately. Academy Chairman Sunil Jain Chhabra shared the operational details: the facility will be accessible from 4 PM to 10:45 PM daily. A structured schedule ensures dedicated time for various groups, with children and women playing from 4 PM to 7 PM, followed by sessions for young men.
The academy is not stopping at badminton; plans are in motion to introduce table tennis, carrom, chess, and a fitness zone complete with gym equipment. In a move promoting inclusivity, the academy welcomes participation from all community members, provided they complete the registration process and pay a monthly fee.
The event was skillfully managed by Abhishek Jain, the In-charge of Digambar Jain Vidyalaya, and blessed with an invocation by Shashi Chhabra. The gathering included many community well-wishers, Rahul Chhabra, President of the Marwari Yuva Manch, and a host of aspiring athletes like Sumit Chhabra, Siddharth Jhanjhri, Akash Gangwal, Arihant Jhanjhri, Kumar Aryan, and Kumar Sankalp.
Former Councilor Pinki Jain underscored the crucial role of sports alongside education in fostering well-rounded young citizens. Naveen Jain and Rajkumar Ajmera, serving as media coordinators, expressed their optimism about the academy’s launch and its potential to nurture sporting talent in Koderma.
