In a shocking road accident, four lives were lost and over 20 injured when a passenger bus en route to Pune slammed into an oncoming pickup near Varhane village on the Malegaon-Manmad road at dawn on Monday.

The collision’s ferocity saw the pickup embed into the bus’s front, trapping riders and hurling others violently. On-site deaths numbered four, with two fighters clinging to life in hospital. Minor injuries afflicted the rest of the 20-plus casualties.

Swift response from police and villagers turned the crash site into a rescue hub. Hours of labor freed everyone from the twisted metal, funneling them to Malegaon Civil Hospital for urgent care.

The highway jam cleared only after vehicles were towed away post-inspection. While exact causes await confirmation, speed and fatigue top the suspect list.

Echoing this sorrow is the recent Pune crash claiming sisters Rituja (24) and Neha (20) Shinde. Maharashtra’s roads demand immediate action—enhanced signage, speed checks, and driver training—to prevent such needless carnage.
