Tension gripped Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district as police thwarted a brazen extortion plot by the infamous Rahul Dubey gang, arresting two members armed to the teeth. The Urimari showdown yielded an impressive weapons trove—a carbine, pistols, four AK-47 magazines, five SLR ones, live rounds, a motorcycle, and mobiles—stopping a colliery attack in its tracks.
SDPO Amit Anand detailed how the gang, enraged over unpaid ‘protection’ money from a Urimari colliery on January 18, hatched a firing plan under Rahul Dubey and Ashish Saw’s orders. The pair conducted recce on a bike, but SP Anjani Anjan’s sharp intel triggered an immediate SIT deployment and area-wide checks.
The breakthrough began with Rajdeep Saw’s capture at a hotel, where officers found his loaded carbine, pistol, and ammo. Interrogation pinpointed Munika Kumari’s Hendegir home as the arms depot. The subsequent raid confirmed it, seizing the remaining arsenal and the plot’s motorcycle.
Legal proceedings commenced on January 19, landing both in judicial remand. This success story reflects meticulous policing amid rising gangster threats to industrial zones. As investigations deepen, the focus shifts to broader gang connections, reinforcing security protocols to safeguard economic lifelines and public tranquility in the coal belt.
