Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has spotlighted four Guinness World Records by NHAI as shining evidence of India’s escalating engineering excellence and industrious spirit. Achieved through advanced tech and impeccable standards, these records emerged from the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor on NH-544J.
This 6-lane powerhouse project saw NHAI and partner Rajpath Infracon Private Limited rewrite history in bituminous concrete laying for Packages 2 and 3. Gadkari attributed the success to PM Narendra Modi’s transformative leadership, which is elevating India’s infrastructure to international pinnacles.
Kicking off near Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh, the first duo of records in 24 hours included the world’s longest continuous bituminous concrete stretch: 9.63 km over 3 lanes (28.89 lane-km), alongside 10,655 metric tons—the most ever in that period for a 6-lane highway.
On January 11, the barrage continued with 57,500 metric tons laid nonstop and an astonishing 156 lane-km (52 km at 3-lane breadth), demolishing existing world marks.
The full 343-km corridor, fully access-controlled, is a traveler’s dream with 17 interchanges, 10 wayside facilities, a 5.3-km tunnel, and eco-sensitive routing through 21 km of jungle. These feats not only boost connectivity but also cement India’s reputation as an infrastructure titan.
