Rapid policing in Delhi’s Kotwali area resolved a brazen mobile theft from a 37-year-old US national, Jing Teng, in under three days. The crime struck on the night of January 15, 2026, amid Chandni Chowk’s bustling lanes outside Omaxe Mall, where a scooter-borne thief grabbed the phone and vanished.
Kotwali Police sprang into action, filing an FIR based on the victim’s account. Recognizing the sensitivity of a foreign complainant, Inspector Gyan Prakash spearheaded a task force, supervised by SHO Sumit Kumar and guided by ACP Shankar Banerjee. Head Constables Bhudev and Narendra, with Constables Vipul, Puran, and Amit, analyzed over 50 CCTV recordings, securing vivid images of the snatch and pursuit.
Through persistent surveillance and tip-offs, they zeroed in on Tousif alias Toshif from Shahganj’s Gali Sakko Wali, Ajmeri Gate—a repeat offender under Kamla Market station, freshly out of prison since October 2025. Captured January 19 morning in GB Road as he schemed anew, his interrogation unpacked the Chandni Chowk robbery via his father’s Honda Activa, plus a January 12 station-adjacent theft. Seized were the Apple iPhone 14 Pro, scooter, and crime-day gear. A former meat shop employee and dropout, 15 years of addiction-driven offenses mark his record. Further inquiries proceed.
