Post-BMC election triumph for Mahayuti, Mumbai’s civic leadership hangs in balance amid mayor post tussles. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has fired salvos at ally rivals, slamming the hotel isolation of 29 Shinde Shiv Sena councillors as a desperate containment.
Chatting with IANS, she dissected the move: ‘True harmony between BJP and Shiv Sena wouldn’t require treating 29 members like hostages.’ Accusing Shinde of disloyalty, she claimed ticket distribution favored bribes over loyalty. ‘He confines them fearing BJP defections—his grip is shaky,’ Chaturvedi observed.
At heart, it’s a numbers game. BJP dominates but relies on Shiv Sena for mayor majority. ‘Shinde’s ploy pressures BJP into submission,’ she analyzed. Labeling Mahayuti ‘Mahajhootha,’ Chaturvedi accused it of lie-fueled Maharashtra takeover and BMC ambitions, ignoring public welfare.
‘BMC isn’t their playground—it’s Mumbai’s lifeline,’ she stressed. On Bangladesh, she endorsed recalling diplomats’ kin amid murders, mob violence, Hindu threats, and anti-India fervor. ‘Conditions are dire; safety first,’ she wrapped up, as the mayor standoff promises more twists.
