In a rousing call to action at a Purulia rally, Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamool Congress General Secretary, accused BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato of neglecting development in his own backyard. Speaking under the banner of ‘Abbar Jot Bo Bangla’, Banerjee reminisced about Purulia’s dark days of Maoist insurgency and chaos before TMC’s 2011 victory ushered in an era of calm and progress.
He showcased TMC’s successes in connectivity and projects that transformed the district. Turning the spotlight on Mahato, Banerjee grilled his inaction over 11 years of BJP rule at the center, citing endless delays in vital trains such as the Chakradharpur Express. ‘No action on basic issues like train punctuality—how can such an MP talk big on development?’ Banerjee quipped.
With elections looming, Banerjee called for erasing BJP’s presence in Purulia and pledged to meet every citizen’s demand within six months of a TMC win. ‘I know what’s pending for you, and we’ll make it happen without delay,’ he assured, boosting morale among the gathered crowd.
This pointed critique highlights TMC’s election playbook: leveraging local grievances and past failures to rally support and promise rapid delivery.
