Tensions ran high in Punjab as Republic Day approached, but Hoshiarpur Police turned the tide with a daring raid that crippled an ISI-sponsored Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) module. Partnering with Jalandhar Counter Intelligence, officers apprehended four key suspects in Rahon, SBS Nagar, seizing dangerous weaponry.
The detained operatives—Diljot Singh, Harman Singh alias Harry/Hari, Ajay alias Mehra, and Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Kandhola—carried a 2.5 kg RDX-based IED and two pistols, primed for chaos. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav announced the haul, linking it directly to a foiled Republic Day attack plot masterminded by American BKI handlers.
‘Initial findings confirm the IED’s preparation for targeted strikes during celebrations,’ DGP Yadav said. Extensive questioning is underway to map accomplices and supply chains.
According to SSP Sandeep Malik, the group managed arms trafficking from frontier zones in Ferozepur and Amritsar rural, under foreign intelligence oversight. This logistics network was meticulously built for sustained operations.
An FIR stands registered at Garhshankar under stringent laws including BNS 113(1)/(3), Arms Act 25/25(1B)(a), and Explosives Act 4/5. The successful intervention not only averted immediate danger but also bolsters Punjab’s multi-layered security grid against transnational terror.
