The Sports Authority of India (SAI) is bridging the gap between tradition and technology through a pioneering four-day sports science workshop for shooting and archery coaches. Held at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi, the program by SAI’s Sports Science Division focuses on arming coaches with advanced tools to maximize athlete potential.
SAI chief Hari Ranjan Rao, addressing day one, affirmed strong ministerial support while stressing efficient use of resources for proven results. In precision sports, he noted, sports science is invaluable for fine-tuning performance, safeguarding against injuries, and sustaining long-term success.
Future plans include scaling SAI infrastructure to embed science in every training ecosystem, from camps to excellence centers.
Division head Brigadier (Dr.) Bibhu Kalyan Nanda highlighted the workshop’s role in fostering coach-scientist synergy for everyday training enhancements. It promotes technical excellence and risk reduction via an integrated model prioritizing athletes.
Featuring specialists from key SAI facilities and NRAI networks, this is one in a series elevating coaching in multiple sports. Topics range from physiology, nutrition, and medicine to psychology, recovery via yoga, and cutting-edge tech like AI feedback, neurofeedback, and wearable devices.
Interactive modules on data tracking, hydration management, and emotional regulation equip coaches to deliver holistic, science-backed guidance. This convergence of expertise ensures India’s sportspersons receive unparalleled support on the road to international glory.
