Gujarat Giants survived a heart-stopping chase to edge Delhi Capitals by 3 runs in a Women’s Premier League thriller at Vadodara. The Tuesday clash vaulted Giants to second on the table with 4-7 record, fueling playoff aspirations, as Capitals dropped to fourth.

Sent in, Giants overcame Devine’s early exit (13) thanks to Mooney-Sharma’s 54-run recovery. Sharma’s 39 off 25 (8 fours) dazzled, while Mooney’s 58 (46 balls, 7×4) formed vital stands with Gardner (23-run partnership) and Wareham (32 runs). Tanuja’s 21 (4×4) capped a competitive 174/9. Capitals’ Hatherley (4/31) and Henry (2) kept it tight.

Capitals raced to 26/1 early via Verma (14, 3×4) and Lee (11). Wolvaardt and Rodrigues nudged to 82/3 with 31 runs together. But wickets tumbled to 100/6. Enter Prasad and Rana: their explosive 70 off 31 balls, with 20 in the 19th, brought the target within reach.

Final over drama: 9 needed. Rana out for 29 on ball 4. Last ball, Devine to Prasad (47*) – caught at deep midwicket by Wareham! Giants erupted. Devine’s 4/37 led the attack, Gayakwad’s 3 wickets crucial. This win highlights Giants’ depth and composure under WPL pressure.
